"The Ventures recorded and released the classic song "Walk Don't Run" back in 1960. Some 40 years later they returned to the recording studio to cut "Walk Don't Run 2000." The song starts off with the sound of saxophones, soon joined by a swirling organ, before the familiar guitar riff kicks in. The saxophone and organ continue to support the melody, as the song chugs along with a reggae beat. This is definitely not a carbon copy of the original version of "Walk Don't Run" and that's a good thing! Even more surprising, Nancy Sinatra does a guest vocal on the song "Kicks" with the Ventures backing her. The combination works very well, although Paul Revere and the Raider's original remains the definitive version. Their rocking version of "California Sun" gives the Rivieras' version a run for its money. Throw in some original instrumentals among the cover versions, and you have another excellent album by the amazing Ventures."
