"Tönu Kaljuste and the Swedish radio choir makes a fantastic interpretation of this wonderful sacral classic! I have a special interest in catholic ortodox choral music and have heard quite a few recordings of this work and I can only say this is the best recording I've ever heard for chambersized choirs! The 2nd basses have enormously power in the sub C register and the whole recording is incredibly solid, all chorists and soloists do their work very good! Many russian records sound unrehearsed comparing to this and the bass, as I said, sounds much more solid despite the fact they are just four of them!! I've also heard a lot of english recordings with often bigger-sized choirs wich do a good work but they sing a little bit to "nice" and actually sometimes sounds a little flat comparing to this recording. Alltogether this recording is a very good purchase and it captures the spirit of russian ortodox music and Rachmaninov extraordinary well!"
