"Vic Damone signed with RCA Victor in 1966 and stayed with the label until 1970 releasing four outstanding albums. This import CD compiles 20 tracks lifted from those LPs. By then, he had significantly matured as a pop vocalist, and this collection amply showcases the sophistication of his style and in the arrangements of his songs. Notice the jazz organ that accompanies his delivery of "The More I See You" and the up tempo beat of "Time After Time." My own personal favorites are his swinging version of "On the South Side of Chicago," the best
that I've ever heard by a male vocalist, and his tender rendition of "Stardust" which captivated me from the very first time that I heard it. Vic can even take a song indelibly associated with another singer ("You Don't Have To Say You Love Me/ Dusty Springfield) and through his own interpretation make it sound uniquely his own. Count me as another who also wishes that his RCA albums would be re-issued individually in their entirety."

"The RCA recordings were not among Vic's most successful, although his voice was probably at its finest during this period in the mid to late 1960's.Two of Vic's best recordings are here -- "On The South Side Of Chicago" and my personal favorite "Why Can't I Walk Away" (although the quality of the recording of the latter is not an A+). If I had my way, BMG would rerelease albums as they first appeared, rather than making compilations that don't always flow (as this one does not). However, if you're a Damone fan, get this one -- it fills in gaps not otherwise available, and some of these recordings can't be beat.BTW, it took a loooong time to get this through Amazon! But the wait was worth it."
