CD Reviews

Atta boy, Luther!!
Tuco | Phoenix, Az USA | 08/17/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is really a great little CD that really hilights what Vic Mizzy does best.

As an added bonus, there are 40 pages of liner full color notes which include IN-DEPTH interviews with both Knotts and Mizzy ans well as many full color behind the scenes pics and rare original poster art. I never knew that the uncredited Andy Griffith had contributed some bits to the script - the "Atta Boy, Luther" running gag was his idea!!

Well worth the price - because this is a Limited Edition release, don't be chicken and get yours now before they sell out!!"
GREAT CD FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE...

"I remember watching "The Ghost of Mr. Chicken" when it was aired sporadically during my childhood. I'll admit I don't look at it with the same eyes as a 34 year old, but it brings back good memories. I always liked the music and was happy to see it on this CD. The price for a new CD was a bit steep, but I purchased it anyway. People who have not see the movie a few times may not appreciate CD. I can picture in my mind certain scenes as they play. It may even sound spooky to someone not familiar with the movie, but I don't think would not recommend it. My wife who never really saw the movie, just does not get why I was looking forward to listening to it! 5 STARS just for something like this making it to CD!"
Infectious Vic Mizzy Score and Great Liner Notes
Graboidz | Westminster, Maryland | 11/04/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you've seen the film, you'll want the soundtrack. Mizzy brings his usual quirky and fun style to this Don Knotts classic film. Combining Fuzz guitar picking, with some jazzy brass sound and a killer creepy-organ solo the soundtrack to "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" will become a Halloween staple in your household.

Composer Vic Mizzy is known as the composer of "The Addams Family" and "Green Acres" themes. Mizzy also composed the ultra-eerie William Castle horror film "The Night Walker". The score for "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" combines both the comic element found in his sitcom themes with the spooky atmosphere created for Castle's film and the result is a fun, percussion heavy soundtrack.

To top it off, the liner notes give background details on the creation of the film, brief biographical info on the cast and crew of the film as well as on Mizzy. Chock full of fun facts about the score, the cast and the film itself I found the liner notes worth the price of purchase alone!! This is just the kind of useless info clogging up my brain space that I can't get enough of."
