There are clear signs of a major breakthrough on the horizon for the Tacoma, Washington, rocker Vicci Martinez. Vicci began playing the violin at 5 years of age and continued with private lessons for six years. At 13, she taught herself to play guitar with help of an old Beatles book her father gave her. In 2000, at 16, Vicci released her first CD simply titled "VMB," in collaboration with then 15-year old guitar prodigy Chazz Bessette. An acoustic CD then followed and earned rave reviews, and in July of 2003, Vicci will proudly release an album composed and arranged by her, "Sleep to Dream." In November of 2000 at Seattle's King Cat Theatre, Vicci was chosen from 23 other finalists, who were selected from over 4,000 participants statewide, to win first prize in "Believe," a vocal talent competition. Vicci's winning ways continued in 2003, when she was selected to appear on the April 9th episode of the CBS talent show "Star Search." Vicci won the adult singer's category and advanced to the semi-finals. Vicci's energy and charisma are extremely evident in her explosive live performances and contribute to the growing audiences she draws throughout the Northwest. From her coffee-shop acoustical shows, to her popular dates in Northwest nightclubs with her full band, this 19-year old sensation is already a skilled entertainer.
