Superb vocalist Vicente Fernandez delivers more undiluted ranchera thunder on this, his umpteenth CD. It's hard to keep count with so many hits, compilations, and reissues. Fernandez has been unmatched as a ranchera singer because he can evoke sadness with his breathy sighs and sobs, and yet project unbridled macho passion when he wails at the top of his lungs. On the title track and "Te Arranque el Corazon," he takes the tough guy posture, unloading his operatic baritone with measured intensity. On the delicate bolero rancheras "No lo Puedo Creer" and "Sangre de Indio," he switches his stance to that of a reflective philosopher looking back on his life to find meaning. Fernandez also shines in a moving duet with his son Alejandro, "Golondrina sin Nido." --Ramiro Burr

CD Reviews

A great CD with a superb duet !

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD has a terrific mix, from rousing rancheras like "No, que No", crying into your tequila songs like "No lo Puedo Creer", and the lovely, melodic theme from the telenovela "La Mentira", "Me Voy a Quitar de en Medio". A favorite is "Sangre de Indio" where he does (estilo Miguel Aceves Mejia) some falsetto singing that's wonderful. What makes this recording very special is the smooth as honey "Golondrina sin Nido". It's a duet with his extraordinary son, Alejandro, who's heavenly voice is my favorite sound on the planet. By Victor Cordero, it's a love lost theme and very beautiful. "Golondrina que vas cruzando el cielo/ tú te puedes llevar mi pensamiento/ tú le puedes decir lo que siento/ tú le puedes contar cúanto la quiero".The booklet contains the lyrics and production info, 3 very pensive photos of Vicente, and a very small one of father and son. Ladies, get out your magnifying glass...it's "legs" Fernández !"
