Every year, a different conductor is given the privilege to ring in the new year with the Vienna Philharmonic by leading the Vienna New Year's Concert, the most widely-viewed classical music event of the year. Two of the most famous maestros to do so have been Riccardo Muti and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, both of whom left unique marks on the history of the concert. This release brings together their performances from 1997, 2000 and 2001 with music by both Johann Strauss I and his son.
