"This is an absolutely excellent violin concerto. N.K. Akses is a widely known composer in Europe that had lived the whole 20th. century in full. He was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1908 and went to Vienna, Austria where he graduated from the famous Vienna Music Academy and worked with famous teachers and composers like Alois Haba, Josef Suk, Paul Hindemith, Dimitri Shostakovich and Bela Bartok. After his graduation from the Vienna Music Academy with a high honor degree, he continued his post-graduation studies in Prague Conservatoire. Upon his return to Turkey, he became the assistant of Paul Hindemith at the task of establishing the Music Academy in Ankara, where he educated countless musicians from three generations untill his death at the age of 91.Akses died in 1999, and througout his life he composed five symphonies, a violin concerto, a viola concerto as well as many pieces for large orchestra like, "Concerto and Ballade for Orchestra", and many more. He has compostions for solo piano, cello and piano, violin and piano.His violin concerto is considered as one of his best works and recognized among the best 5 violin concertos of the 20th. century classical music repertoire. The Hannover Orchestra did an amazing job on this recording. Get this one you will not regret !"
