CD ReviewsAlthough not a great album, it still stands up years later Hellion Zephreid | Pittsburgh | 11/17/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "I remember buying this on the Music For Nations label decades ago, it was the band's and label's first releases. I remember the great tunes, "Danger Zone", "American Girl", "Living in Sin", and of course, "Virgin Steele". I have been hearing rumors that the Jack Starr records were going to finally be released on CD for years only to find that he and David DeFeis couldn't see eye to eye on whatever. Well, the wait is finally over and now comes a re-issue with lots and lots of bonus tracks. The night I bought this, I played it over and over 3 times. It was great to hear these songs again with such clarity. The bonus tracks are just demos of the songs but makes for a nice package. The album itself is 4 stars but the addition of bonus tracks and the packaging bring this to a strong 5. Listen to the early days when Metallica, Manowar, and Lizzy Borden were still green. This CD stands up to those bands and may possibly be better than those debuts. Listen and decide but you won't be disappointed. Starr's guitar playing was fresh and new and DeFeis' vocals were uneven, still shine through. A very good debut made only better on CD."
