CD ReviewsCAMPING ON THE RIVER WITH THE KIDS AND THE CRICKETS book_music_sci-fi_fan | Sweetwater, Texas United States | 07/24/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "After camping and fishing along the Brazos, I thought I could handle "The River" it brought back memories of camping beside the river, which never changed pace and must have been running bank to bank. Also, it had crickets, not a cute cartoon cricket but crickets, 3 inch long black, eating, stinking machines that scream in your sheets as they eat their way to your head. My experiences of crickets while camping are frogs trying to eat all the crickets, then bellowing for his buddies, the dog eats too many frogs, gets sick, then the frogs are safe for life, the cat starts to eat the crickets and too many crickets will kill the cat, which you end up locking in a traveling cage with wire mesh, now the cat is screaming, meanwhile your sheets are gone. Finally, as the sun comes up you hear your father say "Thank goodness, it's sunup now we can get up". Now, I remember why we fished nights. I have already ordered a copy for my sister. I didn't sleep I laughted all night long and felt tired but refreashed in the morning. This CD is for people with real family fishing experiences that want to relive the memories. A wonderful, trip down memory lane." Total Disappointment EternalSeeker | Albuquerque, NM USA | 09/29/2000 (1 out of 5 stars) "After reading the glowing review about this CD's realism I was totally bummed when I got it. It sounds like practically nothing but static. I grew up next to the Shenedoah River in VA, played around creeks and streams, and the Potomac all my life. All this reminds me of is someone setting up a microphone at some rapids and going away for an hour. Maybe if you're into whitewater rafting this might make a relaxing recording, but I was not amused."
