Sweet memories of diaz

"this recording was released on vanguard records thirty years ago, and it still has an unmistakable sound. the sound is close, fresh and lively, and the balance between guitar, winds and strings is perfect. diaz plays fluently and cleanly, and with a unique tenderness in the slow movements to the castelnuovo tedesco and vivaldi concertos. incidentally, the disc contains a sprightly concerto by kohaut, not listed in the disc contents above (the piece by tye doesn't exist). the "four centuries" and "masterpieces" discs also date from the same era and label, and they are all worth having. diaz was an exceptional talent."
