Acoustic and electric psychedelic textures.

"Voice of the Seven Woods is a record that takes all of the virtues of '60s and '70's "folk psych" and transforms them into its own thing: providing beautiful songcraft, dynamic changes between acoustic and electric textures, interesting instrumentation (including some fabulous oud playing), and a sophisticated, profound aesthetic that is at once personal and accesible. The influences range from Sandy Bull (though the song writing here is far superior), the Turkish rock sounds of Mogollar, the lush guitar textures of Pentangle, the introspection of Nick Drake, a few tracks with trippy backwards and fuzz guitar, and an amalgam of others whose presence never obscures the considerable talents of Rick Tomlinson, the Voice of the 7 Woods himself. The mix of world music, folk music and psychedelia isn't new, but a record like this shows that vital, beautiful and brilliant music can still be produced using those elements. Highly recommended."
