This is an unreleased live recording from the 1970's and proves, once again, beyond doubt, that Herbert von Karajan was truly deserving of his legendary status as a conductor.
This recording features the Berlin Philharmonic recorded by the BBC in London. For recorded music aficiaonados, Strauss and Beethoven are composers with whom Karajan's name will always be inextricably linked. This disc of 'programmatic' works, Ein Heldenleben and the 'Pastoral' symphony, demonstrates both the conductor's supreme technique and innate musical vision, but also the amazing virtuosity of his ordestra. Testament's transfers of the original tapes are flawless.
