CD ReviewsBuy Voodoo Hill immediately!! David K. Barrett | Seattle, WA | 10/12/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "My god, this Voodoo Hill disc is awesome. Dario Mollo's guitar is sounding great, and Glenn Hughes's voice is better than ever. The sound is much more fluid than the Tony Martin sung "The Cage" that was Voodoo Hill's immediate predecessor. The sound runs the gamut of Yngwie and Van Halen at times, but very emotional and heavy. Glenn is at his best doing metal, and Voodoo Hill is much heavier than Glenn's R.O.C.K. album of only a few months earlier. "Disconnected" is a gem, and Mollo and Hughes remake Deep Purple's classic "Gypsy" in stellar fashion. Buy now." Way up the hill... Bete Noire | Vancouver, Canada | 11/07/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "Recorded at Dario Mollo's home studio in Ventimiglia,Italy,'Voodoo Hill'features the phenomenal vocal talents of none other than Glenn Hughes, who does here things that he somehow omitted from his most recent output. One can only applaud Dario's choice for a vocalist, when they are done applauding his amazing guitar skills. On this little gem he further refines the heavy sounds of The Cage, adding touches of Van Halen at their best and Whitesnake, while healthy organ backgrounds are backed up by a very solid bottom end.A very impressive and eloquent album that should cement Dario Mollo's ace status." Voodoo Hill - Voodoo Hill Fred Monster | Zwijndrecht, Holland | 06/17/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "I haven't been too pleased with Glenn Hughes' albums the last couple of years. One weak, funk influenced album after the other was released ending with the not too strong Return Of Crystal Karma which was released earlier this year. In my eyes the only really great tune with Glenn behind the mike that's been released over the last 5 years was See That My Grave Is Kept Clean from Stuart Smith's spectacular Heaven & Earth album. But now that's changed as Dario Mollo, who seems to have something with ex-Black Sabbath singers, has asked him to do vocals on his Voodoo Hill album. Dario's already had a winner with his preceding project - The Cage with Tony Martin on vox - but the Voodoo Hill even tops that one. The album is full of heavy but melodic songs in the vein of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Rainbow with a twist of Van Halen's Balance (Keep It To Yourself) as well. Heavy songs, the kind of which Glenn's voice seems to be made for. Dario Mollo seems to have adopted the style a lot of us seems to be missing a lot. With Ritchie Blackmore doing his Renaissance thing and Black Sabbath not being overly productive at the moment his albums are most certainly filling a gap. Take a song like Spun In Lost Wages, this is really a wet dream for every heavy rock devotee. It's fast and it's furious but at the same time it's catchy as hell. Or the stunning opener Sensitive with its big, heavy chops. I don't think I need to tell people that have heard The Cage about Mr. Mollo's production skills, but for those who are not familiar with that album, he belongs to the top! Voodoo Hill is an instant classic and people that love the aforementioned bands will have a ball with it."
