"Every black metal band I listen to incorporates something that makes them stand out from the traditional bands, and Vreid is no exception. While the vocals are undeniably black metal, the music is surprisingly rockin'. Vreid combines a black metal foundation with a much thrashier and almost old school metal feel. Think of a mix between I and Absu, and you would have Vreid.



This is a concept album about the Norwegian resistance against the Nazis, and singing about war and revolution fit their style perfectly. The album does feel a little lopsided, with a 9 minute opening track, and a pretty standard instrumental one in the middle. The final song is supposed to be slow an epic, but somehow misses the mark. Nevertheless, this is so far the best black metal release of the year."
