"The last time I saw WC, it was Easter Sunday of 2003 in our back yard, playing his songs from Texas Soul on my step father's accoustic guitar. It was an impromptu performace brought on by the many people that were at our party that afternoon.Yes, I know the man personally, and now I try to write a review for Texas Soul. Every song has the great brass in the background, helping out the song (as if it can't stand alone, which it can). The brass though, compares nothing to what WC can do by himself. His knows how to make his guitar sing. Although he is gettin on in age, he still knows how to belt out his tunes too. I really like the way he put together "Funny Hot Time Slips Away". The song tells you the perils of a lost love while, at the same time "Rough Edges" tells how he is now over his lost love.Sometimes WC can make you sad, or happy, or lonely or whatever he wants to make you feel. There are songs here to listen to when you break up, or make up too. This is definatly a great cd, by any measure. The brass and guitar together make the perfect song and then his lyrics can move you.Now that I am no longer able to hear the backyard accoustic version of these songs, this is definatly the next best thing I can currently think of. A must buy for any blues fan!"
Great CD

"I first heard WC on "Get The Blues" 2 sampler. I was impressed with his exceptionally soulful vocals and the R&B grooves to his music. At first I thought I was listening to a Robert Cray record, since the vocal phrasing and material is almost identical, but with one major difference in that, WC, has been around for a much longer time. Great record from start to finish. Glad I purchased this album."
