Were It Not For All The Surface Noise

"This is a very great performance of 'The Dutchman' sabotaged by the really bad acetate surface noise.
Recorded live in Buenos Aires in 1936, it is very fast paced and
dramatic. The singing of Alexander Kipnis as Daland, Marjorie Lawrence as Senta and the unknown Fred Destal as The Dutchman could hardly be better. The smaller roles are also well handled.
Unfortunately because of the sound quality, it can really only be
recommended to those who are well used to historic recordings.
A pity, the performance is very likeable."
