"Wanda Sa is always marvelous, in this CD recorded in 2005 as well as going back about 40 years! What a voice, what a career! She's backed by a basic bossa-nova type of small group (piano, guitar, percussion, double bass, with some horns and winds and vibes) with many jazzy overtones. Thankfully, no overblown string orchestras or cheesy synthesizers - this is a model for how this music should be arranged and performed.
The song selection includes some classics such as "One Note Samba" as well as more recent pieces. A special treat is her version of some songs in English, such as "The Way You Look Tonight" (Jerome Kern) and "Dancing Cheek to Cheek" (Irving Berlin) - perfect Brazilian-flavour arrangements and execution. Songs range from slow ballads to upbeat toe-tappers with jazz instrumental solos. You can't go wrong with Wanda!"
