"About 25 years ago I had the pleasure of being introduced to/and playing duets with Warren Vache. I knew he was something special back then and, after listening to this CD, I now know that my assessment was right on the money ! His playing on this CD is nothing short of amazing. The selection of tunes run the gamut from straight ahead swing ( "My Shining Hour"/"Cherokee") to familiar ballads ( "I Fall in Love Too Easily" ) to the latin-tinged "Purple Gazette". Choosing a favorite is tough but I believe it would have to be the Billy Strayhorn tune "Isfahan". When I first played this CD Warren's playing on this song simply gave me goosebumps ! I must have played it over and over 7-8 times! In fact, it sent me into the practice room to learn the tune and I played it on my next gig! Allan Vache's playing was excellent throughout as was the British rhythm section. Warren found guys that could definitely swing. As far as I'm concerned...if you like GOOD straight ahead jazz that you can understand... and appreciate hearing five GREAT musicians...all led by a FANTASTIC cornet player who has the prettiest sound out there...add this CD to your collection. You will definitely become addicted to Warren Vache !!!"
