CD ReviewsLove for the washington squares tierny | 12/01/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "The Washington Sqaures winning, dry spoof of beat hipsterism was much appreciated. At their worst the Squares were much too honorific of Kerouac and the Beats, but their tight harmonies & songs were really enjoyable. It's hard to imagine a group like this getting signed today. I heard Daylight the other day and it brought me back to the time I had this album on vinyl. Even if you only listened to "You are not alone" and "Daylight" thousands of times for the rest of your life (which I will) this would be worth whatever anyone wanted for it. The Squares deserved so much success, but unfortunately never found an audience for their smart talent. Their appearance(s?) on MTV before it became a channel to push product provided a few laughs. I was saddened recently to learn that Paskow had died. Best to you Agnelli & Goodkind!" The Squares were the best Sally Jo Davis | New Mexico | 06/10/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "The music is as good today as it was in the 80's. In Seattle, I first heard them on KBCS and immediately purchased their first album and soon after, this album. "Neal Cassady" is especially poignant. Bruce Paskow moved to Seattle in the early 90's and I was lucky to not only meet him, but also played music with him. What a treat. When he died, it was too sudden and too early for such a gentle and brilliant man. Buy this album and buy it now. You will not be sorry."
