The casual listener might hear Wild, Free & Reckless and think that The Complete Hank Williams wasn't complete after all. Then again, when one wears his influences as proudly as Hancock, originality is not necessarily ... more »a virtue. Hancock's third album, like its predecessors, was recorded the old-fashioned way--live in the studio--and while the rough-and-ready, distinctly retro guitar-and-steel-guitar sound wouldn't flatter some performers, it's a natural for "Wayne the Train," his nasal twang, and his crack backing band. Thanks to their customarily relentless tour schedule, they are once again razor-sharp. --Anders Smith-Lindall« less

"There is a quality to Wayne Hancock's music that is difficult to describe. The restless feel of the southwest, the precision of the music, making it hard to believe that it was recorded live in studio; yet understanding that it was the only way it could sound so perfect. Someday Hancock will be recognized as the genius he is. Wild, Free & Reckless is his best effort, but his first and second were also in a class by themselves. You've got to here Wayne Hancock."

"I used to live in Austin and had the pleasure of seeing Wayne and his band many times at a little joint called Jovita's. He did it then and he continues to do it on his third release. For anyone who loves country music or simply can feel the passion someone has for what they do, this disc is a bullseye! Thanks Wayne!"

"Absolutely wonderful. Wayne the Train has once again let his true heart show through his exceptional song writing and singing ability. Great variety. What country music should be. You'll dance one minute and weep the next."

"I love this CD and I can't wait for Wayne to release another. I usually leave this one in the player most of the time. It's good toe-tappin music on a long highway trip."
