Good freaky listening

"This is very offbeat but great listening. They're a very inventive band musically, some of the lyrics are superb and the album has a really good feel. I've played this dozens of times and thoroughly enjoyed it."

"The Weird War's freakiest record. Skuzzy and mean; AK-47, If You Can't Beat Em Bite Em, and Tess, a song about Tess of D'Urbavilles (?) by Thomas Hardy I believe, are my faves. One by One is a recitation of the little Red Book over a beautiful, minor key , pastoral guitar piece. Really moving. The rest is funky scuzz rock for the most part besides Tess which is a Tyrannosaurus REx style bongo piece and maybe the highlight of the album. Get it!

"Beef: the vocals are overwhelmed by the cheap guitar sound. Who mixed this thing?! On the plus side, the songs are great - 9 or ten gems of lyrical wit and funky grooves and psychedelic sonics. They're live show is highly recommended, and will probably make this album make a lot more sense."
