At a loss of words
Wake Up | The Nation Formally known as Free | 10/16/2002

"How could something so simplistic in theory be so amazing? This "supergroup" of sorts is tight and funky. They are not funky in that watered-down white boy way. They are funky in a Prince and the Revolution kind of way. They sound like Aurthur Lee and Prince's love child. On top of all this Neil Haggerty is an amazing gutair player (you already knew that). One of the top 5 albums to come out this year easily. To sum it up, tight+sexy+funk+dirtyrock'n'roll=classic material. For fans of laterday Royal Trux, Love, Funkadelic and the Rolling Stones' "Aftermath." Classic stuff. Buy it. Back to you Lavar (Buh-buh-bum)"
Hell Yeah

"Ok. I picked this up completely blindly, based only on the knowledge that I've always loved Nation of Ulysses, and that fact alone was reason enough to give Weird War a try. Completely not what I expected, and for once, I say that as a good thing. From the first vocals out of Ian's mouth I was immediately hooked. Absolutely infectious grooves. The best way I can describe them would be to say they somehow mix punk, 60's "beach music", soul and funk. It's truly a unique, and wonderful combination. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST CDS I'VE PICKED UP WITHIN THE LAST YEAR.And now I hear there's a new album by them coming out in Jan/Feb. And all I can say is Hell Yeah. Pick it up, you won't regret."
