"I have loved Wendy Waldman back to her early albums (most of which I own). I loved her music then, and I love her music now. She is an excellent songwriter and also lets you know the "song is hers" when she performs it herself. I ordered this cd a few years ago when I found out about it by pure luck (somewhere in Washington state I think)! What a find! It is so enjoyable, I usually play the cd all the way through each time. There are, of course, some special ones particularly "Rode Right Next To You" will touch your heart as it has mine if you like singer/songwriter music anyway. I hope I find the right person to "Will" this cd to when I die."

Another gypsy symphony

"WW has been well-known for years to the true audiophiles; her skills at writing, singing (lead and background), arranging, playing (guitars and keyboards), and producing have kept her at the forefront of leading-edge music. This work is a compilation of alternate takes from her earlier recordings (e.g., "Road Song") and some great new recordings that, according to her, were released on CD for her concert fans. As I stated in a review of her "Letters Home" CD, Ms. Waldman crafts her songs to match her voices and instrumental talents. There is no failure on this record. She is often compared to the likes of Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell, and Carole King, but most female musicians are. Wendy is not always a hopeless romantic and her greatest songs are not about lost loves or loves gone wrong, but about moving on and reaching for her own goals; she is a true gypsy--always looking for new roads and new turns, and she accomplishes these tasks well with this disc. If you can get it, you won't regret it."

$16 & a Tank of Gas

"While Wendy's new 2007 CD "My Time in the Desert" is currently only available through the artist's web site, her 2003 set "Seeds & Orphans" available here is an excellent return to form. It packs the emotional wallop of her earlier work. "Wherever You Are" is a starkly arranged tune with Wendy's guitar & piano that highlights Waldman's unique melodic sense and her touching lyric about a relationship that has fallen into disrepair, "All my words fall in darkness just like shooting stars, but I am your friend wherever you are." "The Want To" is a bouncy road song, "We got $16 & a tank of gas, and Indiana summer that's flying past; the only other thing we got going for me & you is the want to." The set concludes with the stunning "We Will Meet Again" with an expansive melody and Wendy's universal reach confidently within her grasp, "East, west, the birds will fly; It's always been the same, Take my hand, Do not cry, We will meet again." Other tracks like the opener "Cast Your Soul," the re-recording of "Letter Home," and the contemplative "One More Mile" are also excellent. Wendy's music is some of the best on the market. Bravo!"
