This is volume 10 of the Westwood Wind Quintet's 12 volume series of all 24 Reicha Woodwind Quintets. All the quintets are now recorded and will be released as available (as of December 2009 there are 8 volumes -- 16 quintets -- available). Anton Reicha (1770-1836) was one of the first, if not the first, composer to write for the traditional woodwind quintet of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and horn. These 24 quintets are masterpieces, and are substantial works of 30 to 40 minutes each. The works have gorgeous melodies and exciting allegros. The Westwood Wind Quintet is only the second group, and the first American group, to have recorded al 24 quintets.
