CD Reviews

Whew - White Stripes fans are fickle!!
Dimitri Shoz | 11/10/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

""My Doorbell" introduced me to Jack White's song-writing genius - possibly the best that America has produced since Dylan. The video with all the kids is a work of art. All I can say to the person who doesn't like the song because it lacks an electric guitar is "your loss."

Then there's the individual who wants to dump all his White Stripe CDs because Jack White is writing a song for Coca-Cola. Here's a news flash; Mozart, Haydn and Hendrix were all commercially successful!! No joke. For those who maintain that artistic quality and commercial success cannot peacefully co-exist, I have a simple two word response; "Grateful Dead", who would still be amassing millions playing sold-out football stadiums if Garcia were gratefully alive.

Remember "I Will Remember You"? That's right; the Divine Ms. Mac sold a song to a commercial, ensuring that her daugher will someday attend Harvard, or a comparably-priced school. Anybody who uses that as an excuse to not listen to her anymore needs medication. Bottom line; snobs miss out on a lot of good stuff."
