"This album showcases the reasons why David Coverdale never made it big in the years between Deep Purple and his Pop Metal days. You have to love the voice (one of the best in hard rock history), you have to hate the cliche blues rock, the uninspired arrangements, and the often stupid lyrics (even though Trouble is still fairly light on the lame macho lyrics that would dominate Whitesnake's following albums).



Trouble contains three good songs: "The Time is Right for Love", "Love to Keep you Warm", and "Take me with you"; the rest is mediocre blues rock that really hasn't aged very well. I'd give Trouble 2 stars on account of those three great songs. With the addition of the four bonus tracks from the great Snakebite album, as is the case on this edition, the rating increases, but given the fact that the Snakebite full album is currently available on Amazon for under $7, while this Trouble CD goes for a whopping $44, I would say it's a no-brainer which of both CD's to buy.



Apart from Trouble, the other early Whitesnake albums that you should cherrypick instead of buy altogether are Lovehunter (only 2 great songs, i.e. Long way from home, and Walking in the shadow of the blues), and Come an' Get it (only 1 great song, i.e. Don't break my heart again). The early Whitesnake albums that do belong in your collection are: the underestimated gem Snakebite, as well as the classic albums (before Whitesnake turned pop) Ready an' Willing, Saints & Sinners and Slide it in."

"Well, first i believe it's unfair for me to be the first album reviewer, but well...someone hast to start always.

It always happens to me that with Whitesnake, the songs start good, become less good, then, go up again and the process repeats itself.

That's because the order comes from the old LP Vinyl records, where side a and side b openers should be "Openers". That said, my favorites are actually those ones, with "Take me with you" in my opinion, the best.

Now, my Review Title says complete your collection, that thinking you have all Coverdale's Whitensake records (and his solo projects, my guess), because i wouldn't chose this CD instead of another, say, for instance Ready and Willing or even Snakebite. It's good, sounds good, the remastered version sounds decent, but, i believe EMI forgot the meaning of "Bonus" tracks. Bonus, in my understanding, means something you have never heard before and now are available. The 4 songs you get, altough EXCELLENT, are already heard in previous Snakebite CD. No change, no variations, all the same. Period.

And well, since i did not have the record, i bought it thinking in that priority, not in having a special CD with additional bonuses. If, on the other hand you like to read (which, is also my case) the booklets in search of storys of trouble, adventure and also good luck, then go ahead and buy it, since my guess is that the original trouble had only the awful explanation of what AAD, ADD and DDD meant (many years ago!).

Anyway, rest of the tracks are ok, good ear with Belgian Tom's Hat Trick and Free Flight...



Para los amigos de habla hispana, les resumo que el disco es bueno, pero en ningún caso remplaza a cualquiera de la colección. Está lejos de sus predecedores y si quieren completar vuestra colección, cómprenlo, de lo contrario, elijan cualquier otro para empezar...



Und wenn ihr deutsch spricht, kann euch sagen dass der Album eigentlich nicht schlecht ist, gar nicht wunderbar, aber wenn ihr's nicht hat, geh and kauft es, da es eigentlich wertvoll ist, es zu haben :)
