"Having first bumped into Erlend Oye on Röyksopp's "Melody A.M," I've followed this thread for quite some time. I decided to invest in his solo album, "Unrest," then jumped over to the Kings of Convenience albums. None of these have disappointed me.

The Whitest Boy Alive is a nice middle ground between the Erlend Oye's mainly acoustic work with Kings of Convenience and his heavily electronic solo career (including the DJ Kicks album he put out). While I do love Kings of Convenience, their albums can get a little slow at times. However, both of the tracks on this single are easily comparable to KoC's "Love is No Big Truth" and feature the same melodic guitar riffs and catchy bass lines. The Whitest Boy Alive is a response to the lethargy of KoC.

All in all, I'd rate this CD a "buy," especially if you're one of those people who found KoC listenable (if that's a word), but a little slow. It's just another affirmation that the nerdy Norwegian, Erlend Oye, can crank out some good tracks working with pretty much anybody."
