"I live in America and was introduced in 1998 to The Whitlams on a mix tape send to me by a lovely Aussie friend. Since then, The Whitlams have become my favorite group. I've bought four of their albums, and have loved each one. Torch the Moon is, in my opinion, the best. I recommend the two CD set if you can find it (try the official website.) The rarities disk has some wonderful songs, such as "The Curse Stops Here" and the Sculthorpe Variation of "Out The Back."Torch The Moon is amazing, rarities disk or not. It would make an excellent introduction to the Whits because it has a great variety of songs, all of them the usual high Whitlams caliber."
Not their best, but still great

"This is not the best album by the Whitlams, and there is no real standout song like the brilliant 'No Aphrodisiac'. However, it is the type of album that if you play it a few times, it gets under your skin. The song about Kate Kelly is one that you are sure to find yourself singing along to.If you haven't encountered the Whitlams before, i suggest you get their first album before having a go at this one. You will probably appreciate it more after hearing their earlier work.(ps: and they are amazing live - saw them in a small venue on a skiing weekend. We didn't know they would be there, but i am so glad they were!)"
