Acoustics? What acoustics?

"As with many Cathedrals, they are designed for mechanical rather than acoustical properties. The placement of the pickup microphones is difficult. This CD suffers from two faults:
1) Muddy sound - especially noticeable in the 5th movement, where crispness of sound is needed to show off the talent of the organist.
2) Excessive dynamic range. The CD starts with the sound TOO faint, with the result that you will either blow your speakers or your eardrums if you don't adjust the volume several times during the first movement.
The organist is quite good, its a shame that they couldn't find a good spot for the microphones.
