"This is a nice performance. There is an intimate quality to it. The CD insert says, "Recorde live at Kwame, NYC on a snowy Sunday Afternoon, February 6, 1983." I can almost imagagine being there as I listen. I bought this because I wanted something with Denis Charles. This is very satisfying in that respect. Mr. Charles had his own signature way of playing the drums. There are a couple stand-out drum solos that feature Mr. Charles'impeccable taste and musicality. Morris and Murray are excellent on this as well. As an ensemble, they sound very cohesive and spontaneous. They have the ability to get "out- there," and still maintain a warm, swinging vibe."
