"ASV living era does a great job of remastering and repackaging old 78 records. Here are a number of tasty guitar and violin pieces from the late twenties and early thirties. These guys were excellent musicians who could really cut loose in 4/4 time. This is enjoyable for background or focused listening. Another winner from this fine company."

"BEFORE THERE WERE DJANGO AND REINHARDT AND STEPHANE GRAPELLI, OSCAR ALEMEN, OR ANY OF THE OTHER "HOT JAZZ" GUITAR AND VIOLIN DUOS, THERE WAS EDDIE LANG AND JOE VENUTI, TWO GUYS WHO GREW UP TOGETHER AND PLAYED MUSIC MUSIC WITH OTHER TOGETHER UNTIL EDDIE LANG'S UNTIMELY DEATH AT AN EARLY AGE, WHICH IS A SHAME, BECAUSE EDDIE LANG WAS JUST ABOUT THE BEST GUITARIST AROUND AT THE TIME. BUT THEY WERE BOTH VERY PROFICIENT RECORDERS IN THE 20'S AND EARLY 30'S, AND THIS CD FEATURES A LOT OF THEIR WORK TOGETHER. THE RECORDING QUALITY ON THIS CD IS PRETTY GOOD, CONSIDERING WHEN THESE RECORDING WERE MADE."
