Synopsis
Product DescriptionTorrent is Will Dailey's adventurous project of multiple music volumes scheduled throughout 2009 and 2010 that is already featuring luminaries such as Roger McGuinn, Kay Hanley and Elliot Easton (The Cars) and has been blessed by Grammy Award winning producer T Bone Burnett. Instead of continuing on the common artist's cycle of releasing a new album every two years or so, Dailey is releasing a burst of new music ever 3-4 months, enabling fans to join Will as he continues forth on his musical journey. Torrent, Volumes 1 & 2 combines the first two EPs in the series - Fashion Of Distraction and By The Blue Hills, as well as two bonus tracks -- bringing his audience up to date with his complete musical output for the first half of this year.
The Fashion Of Distraction portion of the CD features five songs written over a period of time when Dailey was listening to a lot of Byrds music, and features the one and only Roger McGuinn on Rickenbacker 12-string and singing harmony on the opening track, "Peace Of Mind". By The Blue Hills makes up the second half of the CD and was influenced by the landscape, the sights and sounds, and the unique energy of Boston and its music scene as experienced by Dailey after he returned to his hometown after a two-year stint in Los Angeles in 2006. That cross-country move resulted in 2007 s independently-released Back Flipping Forward album, a new record deal, and a series of U.S. tours and higher-profile gigs. By The Blue Hills features guest appearances by such Boston notables as Elliot Easton (The Cars), Kan Hanley (Letters to Cleo), Tanya Donnelly (Belly, Throwing Muses) and Tim Brennan (Dropkick Murphys).
In addition to the great new music found on Torrent, Volumes 1 & 2, the release has been certified by multiple Grammy Award winner and music legend T Bone Burnett, who has employed his CODE high-definition audio standard on these recordings. CODE creates sound that is virtually indistinguishable from the master recordings an artists creates in the studio, and the result is music exactly as it's meant to be heard, but that does not require the audience to purchase any new or special equipment to play. Each package comes with two discs: The first is a DVD that can be played on any standard player or one built into virtually any computer system. This DVD also contains CODE-Process files in .wav, .aac, and mp3 formats, providing the listener with the ultimate in flexibility demanded by today's audio environment. These files can be copied into most computer music programs and downloaded onto most personal music players. The second disc is a CODE CD for use in a car or in any other environment in which CD playback over DVD is preferred.

CD Reviews
Torrent Vol 1 & 2, best of '09, can't wait for Vol 3 & 4 P. Bond | Boston | 06/16/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "Will Dailey's Torrent Vol 1 and 2 is a new kind of record. Originally a pair of 5 song EP's, released in January and April of 2009, Torrent Vol 1 & 2 has the original releases and bonus tracks. In a age of failing record companies, Will is trying something new, releasing music every few months, primarily via iTunes and Amazon.
Torrent starts out with Peace of Mind, a long time fan favorite at Will's live shows, finally recorded masterfully here. With Roger McGuinn on 12 string guitar and backing vocals, it is a strong opener to the record. Each song is a stand out on it's own, but the next classic is Allston, an ode to the neighborhood outside of Boston.
Opening Volume 2 is Down the Drain, a rocking number that's energy truly doesn't show itself fully until you hear the live version offered as a bonus on iTunes. This track is even better live...
Next up, How Can I Make You Happy, performed on the CBS Early Show on 6 /16/09, this is in the running to be that radio friendly single, lots to choose from on this record though...
Love Is On the Way is my personal favorite, I don't know what it is... the bass line, the piano, or the horn section later in the tune... it's just a good all around fun tune.
Tomorrow Still Comes (Featured in a Will Dailey "Video Party" video) is a great sing a long tune and a staple of Will's live shows.
The Bonus Songs, Hands and Too Long, make you wonder if these are the "left of the record and inserted after the fact bonus songs", what else does Will have to offer.
Amazing performances all around, a killer band of local Boston stars, Matt Pynn, Dave Brophy, Cris Driscoll and of course bassist Joe McMahon... with friends Kay Hanley(Letters to Cleo), Tim Brennan(Dropkick Murphys) and many others joining the fun, amazing production and mixing by wiz Tom Polce (Letters to Cleo), this is a record you'll listen front to back and back to front over and over again."
