CD Reviews

Interesting new direction for William Orbit
Carl Benzino | Long Beach, CA USA | 12/19/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I'm honestly not familiar with the original pieces covered here but enjoyed them none the less... The Original Version of Adagio for Strings is beautiful. It sounds at once faithful to the classical genre but at the same time very modern. The Ferry Corsten remix of Adagio, on the other hand, is a tranced out version that is also beautiful, but more in a 2am on the dance floor way. The John Cage composition, In A Landscape, is much more recognizable as a William Orbit production if you're at all familiar with his earlier work under Strange Cargo or Torch Song. In A Landscape comes off as kind of light when held up against the two contrasting versions of Adagio... I've also heard 2 other tracks from his Pieces In A Modern Style full length due 2/1/00 and think it'll be a great album."
Excellent piece of work

"Already an old track by now but still never too late to review. William Orbit is definitely an innovative and creative artist. His new album "Pieces...style" definitely is creative. Ferry Corsten, an up and coming superstar of trance/progressive house style has given a new dimension to the track, "Barber's ...strings." When I first heard the track in a club I was totally stunned by the melody and the pace of track. I think the melody is little dark or serious but I still like it a lot. When I found out the track is a remix by F Corsten I was amazed. What an awesome piece of work on the remix. Also not forgetting Andre (ATB) Tanneberger version which is pretty good. Definitely worth an applause however not as good as F Corsten version. This single definitely a must buy for all trance fans, F Corsten and ATB fans, and anyone who likes William Orbit's work."
What a tune!

"William Orbit, hated by me for his work with Madonna, has pulled a rabbit out of his hat with this song. Ferry Corsten, the GOD of trance, has worked his usual wonders and given this song the best remix I've ever heard.Believe me, you haven't heard music until you hear this song. I can remember exactly where I was the first time I heard Corsten's remix back in September - I thought "Wow, what a fantastic song" and I stopped what I was doing to give it my full attention! This is THE tune of 1999 - and will continue to be huge in 2000. This reached #4 on the UK charts, and that's fantastic!"
