INSPERATIONAL R&BMY JOURNEY BACK TO THE MAINSTREAM Getting back into the music business at the level I was, was a long and hard road. Many disappointments were encountered along with setbacks. People who were with me at the beginning had left. Why? They felt there weren't any incentives in order to remain. As far as they were concerned my career was over. People who weren't trustworthy entered my life causing my material to be tied up, and thereby trust became a major challenge for me. Signing a contract with Capital Records was the greatest opportunity to my music career, however, losing such contract because of the unwillingness of the production company to compromise was also daunting to my music career. Initially, I was off to a great start- my album with Capital Records went up the charts rapidly to 63 with a bullet- an instant hit. Embracing the amount of success, a large following was established around the world. Life was going extremely well for me, and this season, was the start of something good. I was on the roster with the likes of : Freddie Jackson, Melba Moore, and Meli'sa Morgan- these were people who had received success in the music field. I worked with major artists: Gene McFadden & Whitehead, AIN'T NO STOPPING ME NOW, Duo, Wormack & Wormack just to name some of the highlights of my career. While traveling in the United States and abroad promoting my album WHERE YOU GONNA BE TONIGHT, my career ended at the highest peak of success. How can one feel at the top of the world, and instantly hit rock bottom? In the midst of turmoil, I was thankful for Pastor A.R Bernard, whose an excellent teacher of God's word. Due to his teaching I was able to be sustained during those difficult times. While attending Christian Life Centre, I met my wife and married. Shortly following our marriage, God blessed us with a beautiful daughter- who is the apple of my eye. Our daughter was exceptional and excelled in all aspects of growth. Right when I thought I had weathered the storms of life, the unthinkable occurred, my daughter at the age of seven was diagnosed with a massive brain tumor. Due to the position of the tumor, once it was removed, she had a stroke paralizing her left side. The surgeons could not promise us anything in terms of her survival. The thought of losing my daughter was more than I could stand. Fear gripped me like never before. Once I regained my composure, we said to the doctors, you do what you can, we're trusting God to do the rest. Unfortunately,when a family is being attacked, it seems to happen atleast two or more times. I lost my family through divorce. However, glory to God! In the midst of this, he was and is in control, bringing about a healing within. God allowed this mishap in order for me to recover and it got my attention. There wasn't anywhere else to go but to Him. All the reports from the doctors concerning our daughter were proven wrong. Christian Cultural Centre was the answer to my prayers. Pastor Bernard is an excellent teacher and his teaching sustained me through it all. I was able to rejoin the choir, and go on to minister at various venues,i.e., Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden,The Morning Show at Rockefeller Center, Nassau Coliseum and numerous countries. This has been an invigorating, rejuvenating and refreshing journey which is why my love of music has been enhanced and I have embraced the gift within with my new CD THE RIGHT PERSPECTIVE.
