Synopsis

Album Description
This is Willie Pooch?s Funk-n-Blues ? real, hip blues sung from the heart! Born in Mississippi in 1936, Willie Pooch started his singing career in church. At the tender age of eight, he performed with two gospel groups ? The Spirit of Memphis Quartet and the Gospel Travelers. At fourteen, Pooch and his family moved to Chicago. Under the tutelage of the great Luther Allison, Pooch began his career as a blues singer, working with Elmore James, Freddie King, and more. Quickly becoming an in-demand producer, Tony Monaco?s B3 wizardry is a mainstay on the jazz scene. Hot on the heels of the creation of Chicken Coup Records and Monaco?s Top 5 jazz radio release East to West comes this incredibly enjoyable funk-n-blues recording!

"when i heard willie pooch on tony's last cd, i think it was the last one. anyway, when i heard willie pooch sing the blues cut, EVERYDAY, with tony and his band backing him up, they got down. after hearing that cut, i went looking for cds by willie pooch and i couldn't find any here in columbus, ohio. willie and tony are from here in the columbus area, but when this cd came out, i couldn't find it either, so when i ordered it from amazon, it was money well spent. trust me, every cut is awsome. i hope the two of them pair up on many more projects."

"I used to See Willie way back when he san with the De Marco Brothers in Columbus and Dayton and Willie is a force live. He is the real deal when it comes to singing the blues. He has also surrounded himself with a fantastic band that compliments him every step of the way. I am proud to have bought this and added it to my iPod."
