"This small EP is a surprising treat. Within Temptation has put together another great EP, this time surpassing the former one done to "What Have You Done".
Both "Frozen" and The Howling" are cut down to their single edits. Although it's slightly sad to hear the instrumental and guitar solos go, the two songs still shine. Both are fun to listen to. It's interesting to hear what the single versions sound like.
"Sounds of Freedom" is the new song here. Composed for Spellborn, the song takes off with a soothing, yet energizing sound. It reminds me of an Egyptian sound almost. Sharon's voice falls and rises with both chorus and verse; but the chorus is energized by her powerful singing. The feelings of battle and victory can be felt through the lyrics and the music. It's a beautiful piece - one of my favourites to be exact.
Then come the accoustic versions of "What Have You Done" and "The Cross". Sharon sings live on both songs. I was surprised. Not only does Sharon manage to sing wonderfully live; but both songs are interesting to listen to. I have never liked "What Have You Done" as a song. But, the accoustic version seems to fit with WT's style better. It's actually very good! Similarly, "The Cross" (A song I enjoy) is also nice to listen to in it's accoustic format. What I like most of all, other then the fact that Sharon can sing well live, is both versions are pleasant to listen to. It takes quite a bit for me to enjoy an accoustic version of a song. WT manages to create them flawlessly.
Rounding off the EP are the videos to "The Howling" and "Frozen". Not surprisingly, I enjoyed those as well.
If you're a WT fan, get this EP while you can. It's a real joy to own and listen to."
Another must have for Within Temptation fans!

""Frozen" is another MUST have for all Within Temptation fans. The single versions of "Frozen" & "The Howling" differ greatly from the album versions. BUT. The best bonus is the videos for these two songs. The unreleased track, "Sounds Of Freedom" isn't bad. But. The acoustic versions of "What Have You Done" & "The Cross" are excellent."
