The Wooden Shjips are modern psychedelic troubadours, heirs to the thrones of masters such as the Thirteenth Floor Elevators, Hawkwind, Can, Spacemen 3, Velvet Underground et al. Prior to 2006, they were merely a project for guitarist Ripley Johnson. Since then, he's held the same four-piece together and established the name via recordings and live performances as the great modern template for minimalist, psychedelic garage rock & roll. West is their first 'proper' studio recording. It was engineered by Trans Am's Phil Manley and mastered by Spacemen 3's Sonic Boom. It's also their best recording yet. This Australian CD edition contains an exclusive bonus track, 'Phonograph'.
