Synopsis

Album Description
Even though Berlin-based DJ Woody is a member of the Gigolo crew, this is Woody's first solo album to be released on Gigolo Records. And what a fine entry onto the Gigolo scene it is: sure to get people in the know talking -- and dancing. Following his hot 12" August/Booty Bar, Woody shows us all what he can really do. Selected Works kicks off with some deep acid house in the form of "Memory Soul" -- an uptempo number that sets a fast pace for this passionately energetic record. "August" is a cerebral track that will lift you to another level. This track also came out as a 12", but the CD version is exclusive to the album -- as with all the other tunes on Selected Works. "Our World" is a deep and dark mind trip, "Take It Down" is a pumping and raunchy tune -- its slammin' beats, funky synth licks, and sexy vocal samples give it a succinctly Gigolo feel. "Rocksteady" is clearly one of the highlights: this lounge-y number is ideal for relaxing at home or as a warm-up track early on in your DJ set. You can also hear the influences of Chicago jack-house, Detroit techno and various electro extracts on this record, with Woody's talent for minimal changes in melody at the forefront of his sound. This album is packed full of rocking tracks, and one listen will leave you wanting to hear more. Woody's sound is fresh and modern, but at the same time, he has utmost respect for the old-school -- all of which can be heard in his music.
