"Cugat's versions of the popular latin tunes that became standards in the U.S. in the 40s and 50s are among the lushest and most refined. Cugat's best qualities are on display here -- hot rhythms and sweet melodies. If a few of the arrangements tend a little bit to the sacharine, "Siboney," "Quizas, Quizas, Quizas," the hotter tunes like "Tequila" and "Carioca" more than compensate. The highlight is the stunning version of Ari Barroso's "Bahia," from Disney's "Three Amigos." Another strong point is the excellent bio by Alexander Gelfand. A big minus is the lack of recording information about the individual tracks."
