"The title on the actual cover differs from that shown here and is called Calls of the Andes (plural) rather than Call of the Andes (singular). Interestingly, the notes that describe each song get one album name completely wrong and do not even mention Inca Taqui (1953) at all even though a number of tracks are from it. The slip-sleeve and jewel case packaging are beautiful even if a rather inappropriate photo of Yma was used and the song selection gives a good cross-section of her Hollywood recordings from 1950 to 1954. It also includes some of her early 1943 cuts that were recorded in South America long before she ever came to the U.S.. The newer cuts from 1957 and 1959 are not included although according to some, this may be a good thing but personally I like them.
Sadly, as mentioned, the booklet is filled with serious errors making it have only a distant relation to any facts. Clearly the author knew nothing whatsoever about Yma Sumac or her music. The errors are so severe that a reprint with corrections is in order, which would make this a great release even if it is just another rearrangement of songs that many other CDs have already have.
Over-all, it would be a good collection to have if not for the terrible notes! As long as that's kept in mind and they are ignored, new and older Yma Sumac fans will enjoy it."
