Album DescriptionThe music of Yoko Noge's Jazz Me Blues is pervasive with love for the music and for each other and includes sounds rarely heard today -- classics of the 1920's, 30's and 40's as well as originals. It is almost entirely an acoustic music and never is it overpowering, except perhaps when the listener's heart responds to the nuances of a well-turned musical passage. Yoko's selections on THRILL ME are at times just as difficult to place in a historical context as Jeannie Cheatham's neo-classic number BLACK DRAWERS. Regardless of whether a song deals with the coy sexuality of TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT and YOU'VE GOT TO KNOW HOW, the guarded optimism of SUNNY SIDE OF THE STREET, or the bittersweet affairs of the heart like SWEET SUBSTITUTE and IF I COULD BE WITH YOU there is a timelessness to them, due in no small part to the strong conviction with which they are sung and played.
