"Zani Diabate is certainly not a household name among American music listeners, but if you believe that you,ve got the boogie-woogie right down in your very soul, then feel free to transcend any language barriers with the Super Djata Band. These three and four minute nuggets sound as timeless to me as Elvis Presley's Sun Sessions. Zani is one of the great lost electric guitarists from West Africa. Think of Zani to Chuck Berry as Ali Farka Toure to John Lee Hooker. Why Universal/Island/Mango hasn't gotten around to reissuing this stuff is a mystery, since quality releases like this could compete favorably with any current Afro-pop. Mesmorizing and percolating stuff!"
