Amazing

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I was a devout fan of early BOC living in Southern Mississippi when this came out, and my friends and I listened to it nonstop. It's one of just a few 'metal' albums I still listen to from around that time, two others being Rush 2112 and Van Halen's first, because it is beautiful, powerful, emotional, and intelligent. Wow. Jackson penned all but one of the songs, I think, and boy - finding music that wasn't cliche - that was actually original and smart and emotionally wrenching to boot - it was more than I could've asked for. Another reviewer said they're not quite as brainy as Rush, which is true, but I love them for it. Rush were a bit impersonal for my tastes. I just discovered that they put out a new record a few years back, just having gotten the cd version of this, so will definitely check 'er out! A really great album.

Zebra - A Band Unto Themselves!

"I discovered Zebra back in 1983, and they have always held a special place in my heart. I just recently re-discovered them, and must say, "Why did I wait so long to get their CD's?". I just got Zebra(self titled album), and am now going to get the double CD 'No Tellin' Lies' and '3.V' as well as 'IV'. What a fantastic band. Great musical talent, and Randy is just incredible! This is coming from someone who is a Jazz/Fusion aficionado to the core, and my Progressive music influences came from the likes of early 70's Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, and Gentle Giant. So to be as enamored by Zebra all over again shows the power of this Trio(who I think were superior to Rush and Triumph, the other Power Trios from the 70's and 80's), and how well their songs and musical abilities hold up to the ravages of time!

If you are a Led Zeppelin fan at all, then Zebra is right down your alley. Not the same as Zep, but enough similarities but still unique that they will become a band you'll put into your MP3 or CD players more than you could imagine!

I saw them in my hometown, Houston, Texas, in 1984 when they were touring on the No Tellin' Lies tour, and was blown away! I still have the concert shirt I bought back then(even though it's a little faded, and wouldn't fit me if I tried), and remember the audience was so into it! When they broke into 'Who's Behind The Door?", the plave went absolutely nuts, but quieted down to listen and enjoy the song! One of the few Rock Band audiences that actually LISTENED to the songs and didn't scream and yell all the time through it! It was so cool!

I highly recommend this CD to anyone who loved late 70's early 80's Rock!"
