10,000 Light Years from Here

"This may be Zeni Geva's best release yet, it' definitely a very good one. Hear something new. It's surprising these guys aren't giant. They are making the most powerful music around and being sufficiently innovative and noisy about it. It should be mentioned to the uninformed listener that the vocals may leave something to be desired, short emphatic grunts seem to be the meat du jour. This will only make you appear more angry than you really are."
The poison drives me crazy, but it's cool

"Ahhh, a new Zeni Geva album. It's been six long years since Freedom Bondage, and I'd assumed they'd broken up. Then the other day I found this cd in Best Buy of all places. So does it deliver? Well, yes and no. It's still heavier than most everything out there, relentless, pounding, etc. Yet it seems to be recorded too well. Don't get me wrong, it isn't produced like the latest Metallica album or anything, but it isn't nearly as abrasive to listen to as their previous output, unfortunately. Also, I guess they axed Eito, their old drummer, and Masataka Fujikake has taken over his position. While he does a decent enough job, their is an obvious difference in the band due to this. In spite of these faults, this album is still worthwhile and a good listen (is that a harmonica I hear on "Blashshpere"?) Although this album isn't all I hoped it would be, it's still better than pretty much everything being released at the moment. Any Zeni Geva is good Zeni Geva. P.S. I hear they're touring the states this summer, and if you're like me nothing will stop you from seeing these guys live."
