Everything You Ever Expected on a "Gypsy Night" - It's Here
Erika Borsos | Gulf Coast of FL, USA | 01/07/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD will not disappoint! It is high quality Roma/Gypsy music from Spain, Russia, and Hungary at an unbelievable price. The music is authentic - outstanding violin improvisations, cimbalom (hammered dulcimer) ornamentation, and great vocals. I was quite astonished at the truly passionate exciting music on this CD. The Russian gypsy songs include a guitar or the balaika which adds the right flavor ... Track #12 "Nincs a Pusztan Rozsabokor" is Hungarian. It translates as "There is no Rosebush on the Plain". You can not hear better Hungarian gypsy music, anywhere except in a cafe in Budapest! "Kesergo" is translated as "Lament" and has some of the finest violin playing to be heard played by Hungarians. The name of the band is listed as "Zoltan and his Gypsy Ensemble" (a Hungarian name). Although they may not be household names, they certainly are a talented group. The best part is: they mastered many musical styles from around Europe and present them with intense energy and authentic styling and sound. Great music - great value! erika Borsos (erikab93)"

"Songs 12 and 13 are from some Hungarian artist. The rest of them are recorded by Haris Dzinovic and his band Sar E Roma.Songs 1-11 are from the last album of that band, recorded twenty years ago. Many folks consider this group as one of the best gyspy orchestra's of all time. Certainly , I highly recommmend this album, although not sure why is it published with another two songs from completely unrelated aritst and music style. Sare e Roma had published 4 albums until 1985"
