Synopsis

Album Description
No need to have traveled to New Orleans, Lafayette, Chicago or Detroit to appreciate the musical odyssey laid down on "Burnin' Up the Tracks." Climb on board as the Zydeco Flames take you on a journey through their varied musical landscape. The Flames' second CD combines renditions of classics such as the crowd-pleasing "Iko Iko" and Professor Longhair's "Mardi Gras in New Orleans" with six original songs that range from the blues tune, "My Eyes are Tired of Cryin," to the moving "New Day Waltz." The Flames' "Don't Worry," received the Best Original Song Award from the West Coast Cajun & Zydeco Music & Dance Association.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This offering from the Zydeco Flames is music that will make it difficult to resist the urge to get off your feet and move. The Flames have the perfect combination of blues, zydeco, and swing sound that should appeal to a big audience. Bruce Gordon is fabulous on keyboards/accordian and Freeway Frank Bohan adds a brilliant blues touch to even the classic zydeco numbers. Also, there is a good mix of covers (9) and well-written originals (6). If you ever get a chance to see these guys live, don't miss it. This is great music to drive by, but watch the speedometer."
