CD Reviews

Just wanted to add another perspective about this record...

"Alright, I read the previous review shortly after I got this record and didn't know what to make of it. I'm a big fan of Osibisa and Afro-Funk in general. This is not an "afro-funk" record at all, but what it is two bands of this genre combining, Osibisa and If in this case, to record a Afro-Funk/Prog/Jazz/Rock fusion album. And I have to say that it makes for a very interesting listen. Yes, some songs do stand out much more than others, such as "Cobra Woman" & "Mah Jong", and at times it seems that this group falls back into the familiar ways of their respective bands. But as a fan of rock music that doesn't come from America or Europe, I think that the music on this record is amazing. There are many bands from around the world, especially Africa, that try their hand at some type of rock n roll, but the problem is always that when you hear their music, you can tell that these guys are "just visiting", they cut a few rock inspired songs and move on. Zzebra on the other hand are very much at home with this music, when you hear these songs, you'll know what I mean. I admit, it's not for everybody, but if your hip enough to know who Zzebra is, then this record is well worth seeking out."
