Do you have a country CD or Artist that you love and want to recommend? Mine would be Jon Nicholson http://www.jonnicholson.com/ A Lil Sump'm Sump'm. He was in concert with Gretchen Wilson & Big & Rich for the American Revolution tour. The songs that I liked the best were Hero and Just a Man. The last song is Grandma and it's a little odd but the rest of the CD is very good. Grandma is the song that starts playing when you check out his website so don't judge him by that please. |

I love a lot of old school country (waylon jennings, merle haggard, george jones, etc) because it's what I grew up listening to, thanks to my parents. I live close to nashville so luckily, I get to see new artists quite frequently. As for some newer artists I like: Jason Aldean, Emerson Drive, Keith Anderson...to name a few. Myspace music is a great way to scope out new artists (and rediscover old ones). http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=music Last Edited on: 8/19/06 7:09 AM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

Emerson Drive had a hit in the past couple of years (about the time I got turned on to country) but I don't know the name of the song or the CD. Anyone? The latest CDs I've bought and/or ordered from here are Gary Allan's "Tough All Over" and George Canyon's "One Good Friend". The first country album that I ever bought was Mark Wills' "Wish You Were Here". I had read a book (Barbara Delinsky's Heart of the Night) that was set in a country music radio station. I went to a girlfriend who was a country fan and said Okay, let me borrow something. She gave me the Mark Wills and I loved it. But I didn't like anything else. Then another friend, my best friend, sent me the songs One Good Man by Tim McGraw and Hot Mamma by Trace Adkins. Wowza! I've been converted ever since. LOL |

Ani - no clue! I suck at naming songs and if it were to come on the radio and you said "that one!" I would be like "oh yeah, I love that song" but I still couldn't tell you the darn title. LOL | |||

Ani, is the Emerson Drive song you're thinking of called "Fall Into Me"? I think that's the first song I ever heard by them a few years ago. On a related note, their new cd is really good. |

I'm a new Mafia Soldier and have heard a little of Jon Nicholson's work and really am looking forward to getting his CD. My personal new fave is John Rich. His solo CD "Underneath the Same Moon" is excellent. Before becoming one half of "Big & Rich", John was a member of Lonestar. He's an accomplished songwriter having written 3 songs off Faith Hill's recent CD "Fireflies" (all which have been released as singles) as well as songs for Gretchen Wilson, Jason Aldean and many others. |

I really like Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Trace Adkins, and Toby Keith. Another favorite is Van Zant, these brothers are the lead singers from Lynyrd Skynyrd and .38 Special. Of course I can't leave out Montgomery Gentry and Brooks and Dunn. I also like Shooter Jennings music. If you are looking for the classics you can't do wrong with Alabama, Charlie Daniels, and Hank Williams Jr. |

I like Travis Tritt and John Michael Montgomery. But I hate the Dixie Chicks! |

My all time most very favorite is George Strait. I already seen him 3 times in concert this year and am headed for his team roping in March. I also really like Jerry Jeff Walker, Alan jackson, Alison Krauss, and Jimmy Buffett. Joe Nichols is one of my favorites too. I've gotten to meet him several times and he is really nice. I meet Rodney Atkins and Jason Aldean not long ago too. Two very very nice guys! KathyB |

Like Demanda, Nashville is my hometown, although I now live in Alabama. I grew up listening to George Jones, Dolly Parton (my dad's favorite), Charlie Rich (my mom's favorite), Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and the like. That's real country music. Today's country music is nothing like it was "back in them days." Speaking of George Jones, I'm going to see him in concert here at the historic Alabama Theatre in Birmingham (www.alabamatheatre.com) on May 11. I got front row seats!!! They cost me a fortune on eBay, but it was money well spent IMO. Now if he only shows up ! Last Edited on: 4/28/07 2:39 AM ET - Total times edited: 3 |

hey everyone...
Nice to find this place!! ...and i hope everyone is doing well.
My favorite artist across any genre hands down is Emmylou and has been since i first heard her on the radio on the way to work in 1975. i pulled over and stopped the car just to listen... in tears. It was 'Til I Gain Control Again" and i've been on her cloud ever since.
Congratulations to Emmylou for FINALLY being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Way overdue in my book. Check out her Songbird box set. i bought the first day it came out back in September last year and don't have the heart to open it. It's far too sacred.
She's still amazing, still beautiful and forever legendary.
peace, russ
