Help Center - Managing your CD Tower

Search Terms:

Your SwapaCD CD Tower is the list of CDs you have posted.  The ones you have posted on Hold are not visible to the membership, and are not offered for swapping.  The ones not on Hold are visible to the membership, and should be available for swapping.

You can get to your SwapaCD CD Tower from the menu under My Account on the main toolbar at the top of the site, or by clicking the My CD Tower tab when you are in the My Account view.

How to use your CD Tower:

  • CDs that appear on your CD Tower as available should be able to be sent out when they are requested.
    • If you can't send CDs out for a period of time (if you are plan to be away from home or from Internet access for more than 5 days), you can put your CD Tower on Hold.
    • If you give a CD away or it gets damaged, you should delete it from your CD Tower before it gets requested.
  • CDs appear on your CD Tower immediately after you post them into the system.
    • There is a link to Post CDs in the yellow bar at the top of your CD Tower, on the left.  You can also post CDs from the link under My Account in the main toolbar at the top of any page on the site.

Function buttons (in the yellow bar at the top of the CD Tower)

Allows you to sort (display) your CD Tower in various ways.  The default display is alphabetically (A-Z) by title.  To sort your CD Tower, click this button and make your choice from the options that come up.  Your new Sort will remain until you ReSort again, even if you log out of your account in the meantime.  Sort options include:
    • By title: This will show your CDs alphabetically by title.  Choosing ASC means that titles that begin with numbers will be listed first, followed by titles from A->Z.  DESC means that titles will be listed Z->A, and titles beginning with numbers following Z.
    • By artist: This will show your CDs alphabetically by author.  Choosing "ascending" means that artists will be listed A->Z.  "Descending" means that artists will be listed Z->A. Note: sorting your CD Tower by artist might cause some of your CDs to "disappear" from view.  This happens if you have posted CDs that have no artist on the listing.
    • By artist, then title: This will show your CDs listed alphabetically by artist, and CDs by the same artist will be listed alphabetically under that artist's name.  Note: this can also cause your "unattributed" CDs to "disappear"--see note above.
    • By Date posted: This will show the CDs in the order that they were posted to your CD Tower.  "Ascending" shows the earliest-posted CDs first; "Descending" shows the most recently-posted CDs first.
Allows you to search your CD Tower by artist, title, or genre.  Click this button in the yellow bar at the top of your CD Tower and enter a keyword in the field that comes up, then click Search.
Allows you to delete items you have checked (clicked to place a checkmark in the box to the left of the item) on your CD Tower.  You can delete multiple items at once.  Click to place a checkmark in the box to the left of as many items as you  wish to delete, then click Delete Checked.  Once deleted, the CD cannot be restored to your CD Tower without reposting it.
Note: If you have clicked "I cannot mail" on a request, or have clicked "Cancel Order" on an active outgoing transaction, or the system has canceled your transaction for failure to mark a CD mailed by the deadline, the CD will have been automatically removed from your CD Tower.

Function buttons that appear on the right side of each CD in the list on your CD Tower:

Allows you to write a review of your CD for other members to read.
  • Information about your particular copy of a CD should not be included in a review--there is no guarantee that the requestor of your CD will see your Review, and the Review is attached to the CD Details page for a CD, and NOT to a particular copy.
Allows you to send a CD to a friend in a not-for-credit transaction.
  • When you click this button, you can generate a SwapaCD wrapper for a CD, even if the recipient is not a SwapaCD member.
  • You enter the recipient's name and mailing address; the CD will appear on your CD Tower in your CDs to Mail tab AND your CDs I've Requested tab.
  • You can print the wrapper as usual and mark the CD mailed.  The CD will move to your CDs I've Mailed tab AND your "En Route to Me" tab.
  • You can mark it received from your "En Route to Me" tab when the recipient tells you that it was received.  You will not get a credit for sending a CD this way.
  • stars
    • Allow you to rate a CD from 1 (Hate it) to 5 (Love it) stars.   You can clear your rating by clicking the .  The star rating that will appear on the CD Details page for a CD in the database is an average of all ratings members have given to the CD.  Yellow stars are your ratings of a CD.  Blue stars are the average rating of all members in the club who have rated this CD.
